During the summer, we offer 30-35 staff positions. Descriptions of
all positions can be found below. Summer staff will usually come
the first week in June and leave the second week in August. We
also offer volunteer counselor positions during the summer. If you

Leadership Positions
These positions require a high level
of commitment and servant hood.
Leadership positions have an average
requirement of at least one year of college completed. Experience
in administration, leadership, time management and problem solving
are required. Positions in leadership require a high standard of
conduct and stature. Other people will look to you for guidance
and direction. A leader is an exceptional servant with great
wisdom and discernment!
Assistant Program Directors
The
assistant program directors will be heavily involved in planning
and leading the Covenant Camps with the program director. This
position will help them gain practical, hands-on experience in the
areas of planning, training, and operating in camp ministry. They
will be given the opportunity to lead counselor training, group
devotionals, as well as to observe the various operational
procedures during the summer. This position will work closely with
the program director and the rest of the Covenant Cedars team.
Solid administration and leadership skills are required.
CIA DIRECTORS
The CIA Directors will work with the program director and director
to lead the CIA team in daily work projects, daily Bible study,
and activities. They should have basic Biblical training,
leadership experience with high school students, counseling
experience, worship leading experience is a plus, and a magnetic
and deep love for the Lord. It is the duty of the CIA directors to
actively live out a mature faith in Christ and to lead the CIA
team through their camp ministry experience. They will provide
support, encouragement, direction, and spiritual leadership to all
team members.
Head Housekeeper
The
head housekeeper is in charge of coordinating all cleaning with
the guest services director throughout the summer.
Responsibilities will include the general cleaning of rooms
(vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning windows, etc.), ensuring clean
bathroom facilities, providing clean linens, and general room
clean-up before and after group use. This position needs to be
able to lead approximately 30 staff members on cleaning days,
ensuring that all facilities are ready for the next groups use.
Head Tower
The
head tower facilitator is in charge of a team of three other
qualified and skilled tower facilitators. As a team they will be
in charge of the climbing wall and the zip line, promoting
excellence and professionalism at all times. You will oversee the
daily maintenance and cleaning of the Tower area as well as report
to the program director and executive director to be assigned
various duties along the other tower staff when tower is not in
use.
Head Kitchen
The
head kitchen person will work with the food services director to
prepare meals daily for the campers. You will work in the areas of
food preparation, serving line preparation, clean up, and general
kitchen duties. You will also be responsible to help oversee the
Kitchen Crew and be in charge of food preparation in the absence
of the Food Service Director.
Head Lifeguard
The
head lifeguard must have completed a certified lifeguard training
course and have current CPR and first aid certification in place
prior to summer. Accountable to the maintenance director & program
director, the head lifeguard will be in charge of a team of four
other equally qualified and skilled lifeguards, promoting
excellence and professionalism at all times on the waterfront.
Lifeguards will be responsible for a variety of water-related
tasks, such as daily maintenance, checking chemical levels,
cleaning the pool and beachfront areas, and cleaning the pool
bathhouse.
Worship Leader
The
worship leader has the responsibility of managing a group of
gifted musicians and vocalists. As Worship Leader, you will set
the tone for the worship portion of the sessions. You will focus
people on God while leading your team in such a fashion that
people will be drawn closer to their Creator. Along with leading
worship, you will be asked to do various jobs by the program
director and executive director.
Game Person
The
Game Person is someone who is able to organize and manage a
variety of recreation activities, schedule a team of skilled
recreation personnel (other staff) and one who can budget time
effectively. As game person, you must become familiar with all
equipment related to all camp activities. You will be responsible
for the scheduling, maintaining, and general oversight of all
games, activities, and equipment. The game person will also help
with various areas of camp.
Counselor
Positions
We
offer both core counselor and volunteer counselor positions. These
positions require a high level of commitment and servant hood.
Counselors must have a strong desire to work with young people,
have practical experience in a similar fields of work, be willing
to give their all this summer, be willing to live 24/7 with
anywhere from 5-11 campers, and be able to lead devotions. A
counselor is someone who is dedicated to working with young
people, expects God to change hearts, and is willing to be changed
in the process.
Core Counselors
You
will work week to week with the various campers and groups that
come to Covenant Cedars. Core counselors will be greatly involved
with Covenant Cedars own programmed camps. You will be working
with kids ages 5-17 in a wide variety of camping programs. A core
counselor's primary responsibility is to love campers, build
relationships, and help draw them to Christ. When not counseling,
you will be assigned jobs by the executive director or program
director.
Volunteer Counselors
Volunteer counselors usually come for one or two weeks to assist
our core counselors in the same capacity that is listed above. We
rely heavily on volunteers to help with the majority of our camps.
As a volunteer, you will be expected to follow many of the same
guidelines and regulations that our fulltime staff follows. You
will receive the same blessing and fulfillment that comes with
serving at Covenant Cedars, reaching out to kids, and impacting
their lives for years to come. A volunteer counselor must be at
least fourteen for Trailblazer, fifteen for Explorer Camp, sixteen
for Jr. High Camp, and a first year college student for Sr. High
camp.
Service Positions
We
are seeking those who are responsible, who work well with others,
who can see a task through from beginning to end, and can do their
job with excellence.
Canteen/Camp Store Manager
A
favorite place of many campers is the Canteen. You will be
responsible to open and close the building during canteen session.
Duties include operating a cash register, ordering and inventory,
managing a crew of workers, and cleaning the building after each
use. You will also be a part of the guest services staff. The
canteen and camp store manager reports to the Guest Service
Director.
Tower Crew
Tower facilitators will be trained to facilitate the 42 ft
climbing tower and 70 yd. zip line, and shall promote excellence,
and professionalism at all times at the Tower. Tower personal
will be in charge of the Climbing Wall Area and Zip Line Area.
You will oversee the daily maintenance and cleaning of the Tower
area. The Tower staff will work with the Head Tower facilitator
and will report to the Program Director & Executive Director to be
assigned duties when Tower is not in use. Tower Crew will also
help the Game Person with all camp games.
Media Person
One
of the exciting and growing ministries at Covenant Cedars is the
production of high-quality cd’s, videos, and photos. This position
requires someone who has previous experience with video recording,
editing and composition. The Media Person will work closely with
the Program Director. You'll be taking digital and 35mm photos and
organizing them. If you are interested in the field of photography
and video editing technology, this position is for you! This
position will also help with other areas of camp.
Kitchen Crew
Food
Service Assistants are those who are committed to serving the Lord
by providing food for the masses. You most likely will not be
called upon to do any multiplying of loaves and fishes, but your
role is an essential one! Ensuring that food is properly prepared
and served with a smile, makes meal time the favorite activity of
many campers. Working under the supervision of the Food Service
Director & Head Kitchen, you will work in such areas as food
preparation, serving line prep, clean up, and general kitchen
duties. You will also be responsible to help ensure a
smooth-running facility. During meals, you will take care to see
that the drink line is fully stocked (juice containers are full,
coffee is made, ice machine is full, there are sufficient cups and
mugs, cereals are stocked, etc.). As a food care worker, high
standards of cleanliness and hygiene are expected. After each
meal, the drink line, tables and chairs will be wiped down and the
floors cleaned. You will be guided in this process by the Food
Service Director and Guest Services Director. A good attitude and
cheerful disposition are a must in this area. Previous kitchen
experience is not required, but is beneficial. You will receive
plenty of on-the-job experience and go away better prepared to
serve both God and others!
Lifeguards
The
qualified applicants will have completed a certified lifeguard
training course & have current certifications for CPR & first aid
prior to the summer. Accountable to the Maintenance Director,
lifeguards will promote excellence and professionalism at all
times on the waterfront. Lifeguards will be responsible for a
variety of water-related tasks such as daily maintenance and
cleaning of the pool and beachfront areas. Will care for and clean
the pool bathhouse. This is one of the most critical positions on
the Camp as far as camper safety is concerned. Lifeguards will
also serve as part of the guest services staff.
Maintenance Crew
To
ensure that the camp continues to run efficiently, as a part of
the maintenance crew and depending on your skill, you will join
Covenant Cedars full-time Maintenance Director to accomplish a
variety of tasks from facility repairs (plumbing, water and sewer,
hardware and other "fix-its") to grounds work (mowing, weeding,
etc.) to new construction. You will need to be a self-starter with
plenty of on-the-job experience, able to work independently, and
able to perform the heavy physical labor that accompanies these
tasks. |
